Easy To Visit Lookouts On Oahu, Hawaii-Adventures On The Move

There are so many easy to visit Hawaii lookouts across the islands. Lookouts and scenic points are a great way to capture extraordinary Hawaii views that can be accessed by car. These are great options for families with very young children, or those unable to go on strenuous hikes.

Laie Point

Located at the end of a dead-end street in Laie, HI, this lookout point is a very easy and quick visit. There is street parking at the end of the street, however parking can be limited.

Watching the waves crash inside the naturally made sea arch at an off shore island was stunning, and the views of the windward coast were breathtaking.

Lanai Lookout

Lanai lookout is located on Oahu's southeast shore along the Kalanianaole Highway. If you are looking for a scenic coastal drive with amazing views, the Kalanianaole Highway is a must!

There are 3 main lookouts off of this highway, Lanai lookout, Halona Blowhole lookout, Makapuu lookout. Each lookout has a small parking lot, and parking can be limited. Honestly, every twist and turn has a spectacular view of the deep blue ocean, and on a clear day you can see three neighbor islands, Lanai, Molokai and Maui. This scenic highway is also a great spot to catch the sunrise if you are an early riser!

Makapu'u Point Lookout

Makapu'u Point Lookout is located just off of Kalanianaole Highway next to the Makapu'u Lighthouse Trail. There is a parking lot and paved walkway leading to an overlook with a guardrail. This lookout provides exceptional views of Rabbit Island, Makapu'u Beach Park, Kaohikaipu Island and the surrounding sea cliffs. During winter months, Makapu'u Point Lookout is a great place to whale watch.

Halona Blowhole Lookout

As mentioned earlier, the Halona Blowhole Lookout is located along the Kalanianaole Highway on Oahu. This lookout features pounding waves and a mesmerizing blowhole created by an underwater lava tube with an opening on both sides of it. The water enters the tube with each wave, and as the pressure increases in the lava tube, the water shoots up into the air. In the winter months, between November and March, humpback whales can be spotted from this lookout.

Just to the west (right) of the blowhole is Halona Beach Cove, aka Cockroach Beach if you're a local, or Eternity Beach (featured in the movie From Here to Eternity). Just a short hike down the rocks from the blowhole lookout parking lot.

If hiking is more your thing, there are tons of awesome hikes along this scenic coast.

Check out Makapu'u Point Lighthouse Trail, Makapu'u Puka Trail, and Koko Crater Arch Trail.

Mount Tantalus Lookout

Located in Honolulu in the Pu’u Ualakaa State Park, the Tantalus Lookout features stunning views of Diamond Head and the Waikiki skyline. Mount Tantalus can be accessed by car, and is a great picnic spot or quick place to visit with unique views of the city.

All of these lookouts are great options for families and visitors who are looking to check out scenic views on Oahu.
