The Halona Blowhole Lookout is completely mesmerizing to watch. Located off of the most stunning coastline along the Kalanianaole Highway, the blowhole was created thousands of years ago from molten lava tubes and volcanic eruptions. It overlooks some of the most violent waters in Hawaii, and during winter months humpback whales are often visible breaching and spouting at the surface.
Getting There
There is a small parking lot at the blowhole lookout, however parking can be limited on a crowded day. Check out other "Easy To Visit Hawaii Lookouts" along the Kalanianaole Highway here.
Halona Beach Cove aka Cockroach Cove
A short walk down the rocks to the right of the blowhole lookout, lies Cockroach cove, also know as Halona Beach Cove or Eternity Beach. The cove is a small pocket of sand with some fun jumping rocks off to one side. The beach does not get too crowded, however the waves can get pretty strong and unsafe due to all of the rocky edges surrounding the cove. There was a neat little cave on the cove with a cool view of the the beach from inside. Although the water was not great for our kids to swim in, it was a fun beach to visit and explore!
